Day 5 - Post Surgery (96+ hrs)

Success in the potty department now that I am officially off the pain killers - enough said on this topic!

I thought maybe I'd need to have some pain meds again at some point during the day yesterday, maybe after my work out or shower or to sleep, but the time never came. Feeling less discomfort each day and still have never felt a moment of anything I could call pain. On a 0 to 10 scale with excruciating pain being at a 10 and no discomfort at 0, I would say I've had a few hours all together in the 2-3 range, but mostly I've been in the 0-1 range -- even now that I am off pain meds.

I did get talked into going out of the house yesterday and went on a short trip to visit my brother-in-law in the hospital. I was gone a total of 2 hrs. and had my feet up most of that time, but it was just too much for me. I came home feeling nauseous, very tired and had a headache. I took an Aleve, laid down on the couch and fell asleep by 9 PM. I never made it up to my own bed. I guess I'm just not ready to be moving too much yet.

My exercise program is going well. I felt stronger this morning, now that I am not on pain meds. I was even able to do some hip lifts, with my feet elevated, that didn't bother my feet and seemed to work out my legs a little better.

Here's today's feet pictures. Notice the blue toes are still there! My big Saturday night plans are trying to stay awake for a movie and having my first glass of wine in a week!

  1. Hey Deb! Wow! I am so glad to hear you are doing well!, your recovery is amazing! I don't think I have read of anyone who has not had pain esp. after the numbing wore off. I had been posting on an old page of Sara's blog. I thought I was refreshing the page, but apparently not. I kept wondering why no one had posted. LOL! I just got her the new postings up and saw where you had started a blog. This is super encouraging for others. Please keep up the blogging. I had been praying and wondering how you were doing. My feet are doing well at 5 weeks and 2 days! I still can only wear on pair of shoes, but I am not complaining. My feet still swell around the side and top of the incision when I am on them a lot. Still walking a little funny, but feeling pretty good about them. Julie, isn't your surgery this week?
