So, the biggest problem right now is not my feet, but my tummy. Sorry if this is too much information, but it is real, I NEED to go potty. It has been over 72 hrs and I can't stand it any more. I took my last pain pill this morning at 8 AM and began taking stool softeners to hopefully kick my system back into gear...but I am STILL waiting for the magic to happen. UGH~
My feet are terrific! I developed some freaky bluish black toes last night which kind of weirded me out, but my little sausage toes don't feel any different and I am still in no pain.
I added leg exercises to my routine this morning - donkey kicks, fire hydrants and inner and outer leg lifts. These felt great! At this point I've figured out how to work out just about everything from the knee up. Will need to try and figure out some calf exercises that my feet can bare next week.
Now that I'm feeling so good it is getting harder and harder not to get up and do stuff around the house. This will be my biggest challenge over the next few week until I see the doctor and he tells me I can do what I want!
I am so thankful for the calls and visitors and extra help from my family and especially my daughter who spent all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with me - making my meals, watching over me and keeping me company. Don't know what I would have done without her here to keep me company all week!
Lastly, I've decided that tonight's the night I am going to try to sleep in my bed again. I've been delaying it because these "moon boots" are so BIG and I am suppose to keep them on at all times, so I'm afraid there won't be enough room to sleep comfortably in my own bed and don't want to keep Ken up all night when he has a full day of work ahead. So, wish us luck!
I am glad to hear your feet are doing good!! I had the same problem with my tummy too.. and the stool softeners were my savior. Try to add more fiber in your diet and double up your water!! I love your blog and I mentioned it on mine. =) Keep up with resting, it may be hard at first but it will do your feet good in the long run!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your picture with your dogs, very cute!
I was going to say the same thing that Sara mentioned. And fiber one bars and drink drink water. This is really good post and I will keep this in mind next week. 6 more days for me. Today will be my last 6 mile run, yet I will be reminded why I'm doing this once the pain sets in on mile 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteSo are you just sitting in a chair and using free weights or bands? I'm impressed you are doing so much already. Have you kept up the pain meds or decreased your dose? Just curious if you will wait to stop the med until you see your doctor or start to cut back early?
Interesting on the black and blue toes.
I don't have so much family around so part of me thinks I will get a little lonely with lack of adult interaction yet maybe not. I'm used to being home all day since I work from home. I have 2 boys 6 and 8, so my mornings and after school time will be interesting if I will be able to relax or not.
Maybe I will start a blog too. I have to think about it. It's just like writing a journal right and could be fun.
Keep doing what your doing since it works for you. And maybe wait before you hit the bed if you don't think you'll sleep good. Keep writing.
Potty problem is much better now that I am off of pain meds. Yes, I am completely off pain meds as of 8 AM yesterday. I am taking an Aleve a couple times a day because I seem to be having headaches now.
ReplyDeleteI am also surprisingly tired. I seem to need a nap every afternoon - even if only for 20-30 minutes and I'm sleeping a full 8+ hours each night - which seems bizarre to me considering I am sitting on my butt all day!
For exercise I am using dumbells. With upper body I am sitting on a chair with my feet on a stool. I also do some upper body work laying flat on the floor. I will probably add the dumbells to the leg work next week, but wanted to take it easy this week. I also seemed to be quite a bit stronger this morning now that I'm not on pain meds.
Julie, you should blog it, too. Kind of gives you something to do and an easy way to share how your are doing with a lot of people. It posts easy to FB to, so I can easily share my blog with all my FB friends, too. Your countdown has really begun now!
I'm really glad you blogged it. This may have happened 8 years ago but I'm in what appears to be a very similar situation and I'm appreciating your blog. I've only just found your blog, and this is the most recent day I've read but I have to run to work now. I'll read the rest when I get home from school (I teach 8th grade). I'm sure it will help me tons!
