I spent the first couple of days working from home again this week. I was so busy on Tuesday, I never got my boots off to ice my feet all day. Luckily I kept them elevated on the couch and never really noticed the difference.
I am starting to walk a little more and stand a little more each day, trying strike that balance between building up strength/energy and not overdoing. I had planned to work in the office two full days this week, three full days next week, then full time back in the office the following week, slowly working my way back.
So, today was my first full day at work. Everything went better than I expected. Had I taken some Ibuprofin in the morning like I'd planned, but forgot about, I wouldn't have had any discomfort at all. About 11 AM my feet were feeling a little sore - probably from the extra walking (to get into the building/to my desk and back and forth to the restroom/break area for water) - and I realized that I still had my vitamin and Ibuprofin in my pocket from the morning! Took those and had no discomfort the rest of the day. My feet are still up at work, which I'm guessing I'll be doing for awhile yet, until the swelling is completely gone. Other than being a little more tired than usual, my feet don't seem more sore or swollen at all.
I am also proud to say I haven't had any additional feet misshaps since the weekend - boy I hope I didn't just jinx myself by putting that in writing! Not much longer and I will be enjoying long walks with the dog, driving and even all the normal day-to day activities I'm used to like shopping, cooking and even cleaning!
COUNT DOWN TO TENNIS SHOES = 6 MORE DAYS!
Deb when do you go back to your doctor. All seems like it is progressing along nicely and what's nice is you'll be out walking by the end of this month or in 6 days!!! I am finding to not much is changing that much anymore, so it's a waiting game.
ReplyDeleteHi, Julie - same here. Very slight black and blue left and swelling at the incision still, but almost all swelling in the rest of my feet is gone/not very noticable. I think tennis shoes will fit no problem, but haven't tried it yet. Not sure, why but still seems a little scary - LOL! I will probably just try them on in the next couple of days to make sure they will fit next week. My last post op is next Wednesday, Dec. 14 - when I leave the office in tennis shoes!
ReplyDeleteDeb, are you putting anything on your scar or no? Not sure if I should or not. My doctor mentioned it wasn't necessary, but i was curious if you did use anything or not and if you felt like it matter or no?
ReplyDeleteYes. I researched it and decided petrolium jelly/ vaseline while it was scabby. Then I was going to switch to vitamin E. I put it on once in the morning and once at night and it has helped a ton, but since the scabs aren't quite gone I haven't tried the vitamin E yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think I will do that too. I don't want it to get infected so that's why I've been hesitant up to this point, yet I just think something on it will help with the skin tightness, etc.. Okay, off to exercise, shower and then I will use vaseline as well and the good news is I have some in the house so I don't need to run out and get anything.
